House of Hope Welcomes SNAC into our Mission of Care

House of Hope SNAC (Shelter and Nutrition for All Children) is a school-based outreach program that serves families in the Florence 1 School District who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Through SNAC, we work hand in hand with local school counselors and staff to provide emergency case management and crisis support to families with children enrolled in the district.

Rooted in Legacy

SNAC was originally founded in 2014 by Courtney McGinnis-Graham, a passionate advocate for children in need. Though
Courtney passed away in 2015, her heart for vulnerable families lives on through this work. The Courtney McGinnisGraham Community Shelter, named in her honor, stands as a daily reminder of her legacy. Now, that legacy continues through House of Hope SNAC.

How It Works

When a student is identified as experiencing homelessness, school staff can complete a SNAC referral form through their school counselor. Once the referral is received, House of Hope's case manager connects with the family to assess needs and provide individualized support. This may include:

  • Crisis planning
  • Resource coordination
  • Emergency referrals for shelter, food, or transportation
  • Ongoing encouragement and guidance

Our goal is simple: to keep children safe, families together, and hope alive, even in the hardest seasons.

Why It Matters

For many families, one unexpected event— a job loss, a medical bill, or a domestic crisis-can lead to housing instability. When that happens, children are often the most vulnerable. Through House of Hope SNAC, we meet families right where they are, offering practical help with deep compassion.

Together with our partners in Florence 1 Schools, we are creating a safety net where no child falls through the cracks and every family has a chance to find stability and start again.
