Men’s Home

Our men’s home is a long-term transitional facility where men stay for up to a year getting their lives back on track. During their stay they will be encouraged to make positive life changes through structured programs which focus on spiritual growth, education, employment, life management, and recovery from substance abuse.

Where We Focus

Relationship

The most important relationship we have to offer is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Bible studies and church attendance are part of the program.

Shelter and Food

It’s critical to offer these basics, but the House of Hope tries to make our spaces better than basic! We strive to offer a home.

Education & Training

The men who stay with us have access to all kinds of educational opportunities from literacy, to vocational, to soft-skills training.

Next Steps

When men graduate, it will be with a job, savings, a home of their own, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Mission & Approach

In 1990, the Area Rescue Mission was formed using the old Bonaire Elementary School as shelter from the elements. In 2017 the men’s shelter in Effingham had become to dilapitated to continue to use and the men were moved to the facility on Darlington Street.

Hundreds of men have walked through our doors in that time. Each man’s story is different, yet they all had one thing in common: they needed guidance and the love of a savior.
